Annual Father's Day Derby at White Pines Lake

Each year Ebbetts Pass Sporting Goods in Arnold, California hosts a trout fishing derby on Father's Day. This year the derby will be held on Sunday, June 15, 2008.

Trout will be planted prior to the derby and there prizes will be awarded. You must register to participate in the fishing derby (and early registration is highly recommended).

4th Annual Bob McMillen Memorial Fishing Tournament

This Saturday (February 3, 2007) is the 4th Annual Bob McMillen Memorial Fishing Tournament. The fishing tournament will be held at Oak Grove Park in San Joaquin County and will begin at 6:15 a.m.

The tournament will be open for all ages and feature three competitions: Youth (ages 10 and under), Teens (age 11-17) and Adult (ages 18 and older). Prizes will be awarded for each category.

Kids 15 and under fish free. Everybody over 15 years of age will need a valid California fishing license and pay a $3 fishing fee.

About 2,000 rainbow trout weighing 1 - 2 pounds have been planted in the lake in preparation for Saturday's derby.

Pyramid Lake Fishing Derby This Weekend

This weekend the Pyramid Lake Store will host its annual Lahontan Cutthroat trout fishing derby. The derby will begin on Friday and run through Sunday.

The cost is $25 and you can register until 12 p.m. on Sunday at the Lake Pyramid Store. You'll receive the official rules when you register.

Final derby weigh-ins will be held Sunday at 5 p.m.

There will be cash prizes for the heaviest fish (first place will get 50% of the entry fees; 2nd place will get 30% and 3rd place will receive 20%).
